With the game tied at 83 in the second over time, Marquette went on a 9-2 run to take a 92-85 lead with 41 seconds to play.

The Friars stayed in the game due to the three-point shooting of Ben Bentil, but were unable to tie the game in the final seconds.

The Friars biggest lead in the over time periods was three, 76-73, with three minutes to play in the first over time.

After Marquette tied the game, Providence never saw the lead again.

Ben Bentil

Ben Bentil poured in a career high 42 points on 11 of 29 shooting from the field, including 6 of 13 from three-point land and 14 of 17 from the free throw line.

Bentil is the first friar to score at least 40 points in a Big East game since MarShon Brooks.

For good measure, Bentil also grabbed 12 rebounds.

Late Lead

Kris Dunn hit a three and then one of two free throws to give Providence a 72-70 lead with 33 seconds to play in regulation.

But Marquette would get it right back on the next possession as Traci Carter got himself a layup to tie the game.

The Friars had a last possession but turned the ball over, sending the game to over time after a Marquette half court heave just missed with 2 seconds left.

Marquette led by as much as nine, 60-51, in the second half, after the Friars led by as much as seven, 44-37, in the opening minutes.

Points in the Paint

The Friars were dominated in the paint, losing the battle 46-30.

However, when they did get there, they were effective by passing the ball to the free throw line and then passing it to a cutter under the basket. They must have run that play at least 6 of 7 times in the game it seemed like and it worked almost every time.

Kris Dunn

Kris Dunn finished the game with 17 points on 5 of 9 shooting from the field and 6 of 8 from the free throw line.

Dunn also had 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 turnovers in the game.

However, he fouled out mid way through the first over time after playing with 4 fouls for a good portion of the second half.

Of his five fouls, at least 2 of them come to mind as bad fouls.

Dunn picked up his second foul at the end of the first half and picked up his third foul in the opening minutes of the second half.

Dunn picks up fouls cause of his aggressiveness in going for steals, however, him staying on the floor is much more important than any steal he could potentially come up with.

The Friars got out rebounded 49-46 overall.

Ben Bentil

Ben Bentil poured in a career high 42 points on 11 of 29 shooting from the field, including 6 of 13 from three-point land and 14 of 17 from the free throw line, all on a gimpy ankle.

Bentil is the first friar to score at least 40 points in a game since MarShon Brooks.

For good measure, Bentil also grabbed 12 rebounds.

The only concern is how will his ankle hold up after playing 48 minutes in the game.
