LIVE: Can Millennials Save Rhode Island’s Economy?

Travis Escobar
Travis Escobar, founder of the Millennial Professional Group of RI says Rhode Island needs millennials.

“I think we need more entrepreneurs, we need more individuals to stay and invest here. Whether it’s in politics or business,” Escobar says, “who are we looking to pass the baton to in this state? If we don’t have the young talent here, then the state, being in the bottom of America’s business climate, it’s never going to climb up if we don’t invest in young people coming in.”

Escobar says he and his organization work to combat the negative stereotype associated with the millennial label.

“It’s better for Rhode Island if more young people choose to stay here,” Escobar says.

Escobar says MPGRI also works to tackle other issues millennials face like student loan debt, housing and job opportunities.

Millennial Professional Group of Rhode Island  holds their 3rd Annual #ChooseRI event on Wednesday, March 22 at Hotel Providence from 5-9 PM.
