Warm up your weekend with rock and roll from Green Day at American Idiot, on stage at PPAC Friday-Sunday.

Warm up this weekend by checking out these five exciting events happening in Rhode Island, from the music of American Idiot to the birthday of an American President!

American Idiot, Providence

(Friday-Sunday) The popular Broadway musical American Idiot comes to the Providence Performing Arts Center this weekend! Based on Green Day’s Grammy-winning album, this musical tells the story of three friends who must leave the safety of suburbia to chase their dreams. American Idiot features the hit songs "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "21 Guns," "Wake Me Up When September Ends," and many more. Tickets $43-65. A Concert of Italian Songs with Michael DiMucci, Bristol

(Friday) Lovers of Italian music won’t want to miss this opening night of 2013 concert series at the Linden Place Ballroom. Michael DiMucci offers a beautiful presentation of early Italian music, Neapolitan love songs, and selected arias from well-known operas and contemporary pieces. DiMucci, who has been compared to the talented tenor Josh Groban, formerly performed with the Rhode Island Philharmonic and the swing band Avenue A. Before the concert, enjoy a special pre-fixe menu dinner for concert goers at the DeWolf Tavern, located on the Bristol waterfront. For dinner reservations, call 401-254-2005. Lincoln's Birthday Celebration, Lincoln

He's the man of the year, and it's his birthday. Help celebrate Abe at the Eleazer Arnold House in Lincoln.

(Saturday) The Eleazer Arnold House welcomes all history buffs to come celebrate President Lincoln’s birthday. Take a tour of the Arnold House and museum, learn about Abraham Lincoln’s visits to Rhode Island, and discover how this town was named after our sixteenth President. Do Plants Flirt? A Guided Tour of the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, Providence

(Saturday) Get into the Valentine’s Day spirit with this guided theme tour of the amazing flowers found at the Botanical Center. Surround yourself with the beauty and aroma of the gardens and learn how dating and mating occur in the plant world. Tours begin in the Main Conservatory at 11:30am. 5th Annual 100 Years of Romance, Warwick

(Sunday) Grab your Valentine and head over to the opening day of the 100 Years of Romance exhibit at the Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum. Enjoy each other’s company while gazing at the gorgeous display of wedding gowns dating from the 1870s to 1980s.
