Volvo Ocean Race

Head down to Fort Adams State Park in Newport for the final weekend of the Volvo Ocean Race Newport stop over. 

The event's Race Village features close-up views of the racing action, entertainment, food, interactive exhibits for all ages, and much more.

Youth sailing races and high performance race exhibitions will take place as well.

WaterFire

Head down to Providence on Saturday, May 16 for Waterfire. WaterFire centers around a series of nearly 100 bonfires that blaze just above the surface of the three rivers that pass through the middle of downtown Providence.

WaterFire starts at 8 p.m. and admission is free.

RI Teen Film Festival

The GiveMe5 Teen Film Festival is a showcase and discussion of short films by Rhode Island teens at the Greenwich Odeum.

Films of up to 5 minutes, by teen filmmakers from around the state, are screened, followed by a feedback session with Mr. Steven Feinberg, Director of the RI film & TV Office, and a special guest panelist.  

GiveMe5 is free and open to the public.  Seating is first-come, first-served.

Mobile Museum

Saturday, May 16 is the final day that the Mobile Museum of American Artifacts will be at Waterplace Park in Providence. 

The Mobile Museum of American Artifacts (MMoAA) is a touring museum of personal objects and their histories. Housed in a small vintage trailer, MMoAA travels from town to town, conducting an “archeology of the present” that uncovers objects of significant (and insignificant) connection to everyday American life.

Botanical Center

Head over to the Botanical Center at Roger Williams Park in Providence and take a walk around to see the unique and beautiful sights. 

Book a docent tour and have a URI Master Gardner take you around botanical gardens enviroment.

Adult tickets are just $3 while tickets for children ages 6-12 are only $1. Children under the age of six are free.

PawSox

The Pawtucket Red Sox are back at McCoy Stadium this weekend to host the Columbus Clippers in a three game weekend series. 

The PawSox are currently in first place in the International League North division. 

Game times are set for Saturday 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. respectively while general admission tickets start at just $9.

Mini Golf

No better way to spend an afternoon then playing a fun round of mini golf at Mulligans Island.

Mulligans Island features two 18 hole mini golf courses costing just $11 for adults and $9 for kids. Those prices include a putter and a golf ball. 

If the mini golf isn't enough for you, then hit the batting cages and driving range as well.

Roger Williams Park Zoo

Take a stroll through Roger Williams Park Zoo, one of the oldest Zoo's in the country, to see various animals and even take camel rides. 

The camel rides are located adjacent to the Big Backyard.

Admission for Adults is only $15 while children ages 3-12 get in for $10.
